San Vito House – Costa Rica

San Vito is a picturesque coffee farming area, at about 6000 foot elevation, with cool nights, warm days, and fantastic views. This mountain home is a work of art, and charming place to stay. It was built by my husband in a long surge of creativity, and is made of recycled materials, cans and bottles, and wood.

This unique house is a 2.5 hour drive from Playa Zancudo. You would want to have a car to stay here, as the bus route is not close by.  There is cell signal, and with a smart phone you can use a hot spot… the internet is slow during the day.

The big kitchen, has a fridge, gas stove, sink, counters, tables. The living room has a fireplace, fold out double couch, and single bed.  Upstairs has a big room with a double bed, single bed, shelves, table and bathroom.

The house has 2 decks overlooking the view, and it is easy to spend hours just sitting there, observing the valley, and Talamanca Mountain range. Everyone who visits, says the same thing, that they go out on the deck, and sit forever, watching the clouds roll by.

The property is 10 acres with no close neighbors.  There are some steep, maintained, jungle trails if you want to go hiking.  The birding is good on the trails, or from the deck.  Often we will have plentiful greens in the nursery, and there are several fruit trees, as well as coffee plants.

The town of San Vito is a 10 minute drive, to grocery stores, banks, and restaurants. You would want to have a car to stay here, as it is too far from the bus route.  Also the Wilson Botanical Garden is a 10 minute drive away, and is a beautiful spot to spend several hours on their trails.  There are other things to do, such as coffee tours, or birding tours, which I can set up in advance.
